We began planning for eurobrass—das Quintett at the end of the 2024 concert tour. For nearly a year, while assembling a concert program and contacting concert locations, we eagerly looked forward to this project. Our prayers for this ensemble mirrored those for many past projects: that God would work in, among, and through us.

Having founded the quintet with smaller churches in mind, we were pleased to spend most of our two weekends together in such churches. In fact, one could describe the entire project as eurobrass in a smaller package: a smaller ensemble playing a smaller concert program in smaller rooms. But even in this smaller package, the combination of beautiful music and a meaningful message that sets eurobrass apart was present. We sensed God at work in us in the joy that we experienced making music together. As part of the program, we spoke of how God works in our lives, reminding both our audience members and ourselves of his love and faithfulness.

God showed his faithfulness in his work among us in one particularly remarkable way: on the Monday before our second concert weekend, we learned that one of our trumpet players was sick. By mid-week it became clear that he wouldn’t be able to join us for the weekend. But God soon provided a substitute: a longtime eurobrass trumpeter who had the weekend free and was willing to step in on short notice. He did a fantastic job; although we missed Michael Fingerle, we’re very thankful for Simon Bald’s willingness to join us.

We also saw evidence of God’s work through us in the reaction of our audiences. Many simply warmly thanked us—not just for an evening of enjoyable music, but also for the message that we shared in the course of the program. We wanted to communicate that God transforms lives—that he offers us a new life—and we saw how this truth encouraged, comforted, and strengthened our listeners. Despite the intense work of the weekend, we also went home encourage, comforted, and strengthened. We’re very thankful for all that we experienced in our short time together, and we’re looking forward to seeing what God does with eurobrass—das Quintett in the future!
