Due to Covid-19, concerts were limited in size and length, and international travel was complicated at best and impossible at worst. A \u201cnormal\u201d tour was completely out of the question. After careful consideration and a great deal of prayer, we found a solution for that unusual year. With a smaller ensemble\u2014a quintet made up of musicians who were already in Germany\u2014we could offer a slightly different sort of tour in a more compact form. In our four weekends together, we experienced everything we would expect from a <em>eurobrass<\/em> tour: the joy of making music together, deep fellowship within the ensemble, and meaningful encounters with hosts and audience members.<br \/>\nSince January of this year, all five musicians from our 2021 quintet have been back in Germany or Switzerland, and we began thinking of ways to work together again. This idea became the genesis of <em>eurobrass<\/em>\u2014das Quintett: five <em>eurobrass<\/em> musicians who are able to meet for a weekend here and there during the year. The quintet has some advantages in comparison to our 12-member <em>eurobrass<\/em> ensemble. For many years we\u2019ve fielded concert inquiries from churches who wanted to invite <em>eurobrass<\/em> to play\u2014but not during the summer holidays. Other churches are simply too small to accommodate the large ensemble. The quintet gives us the opportunity to serve these churches.<br \/>\nAfter a rehearsal weekend in May, we\u2019ll meet for two weekends in June to play a total of five concerts and 2 church services. We\u2019ll be in Hesse for the first of those weekends and in Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg for the other.
